Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Montgomery County uses annual population screening and school Gifted Identification Teams to connect advanced learners with differentiated services.

How services work: Elementary and middle-school DEPs document classroom differentiation, enrichment, advanced learning, and extracurricular opportunities; high-school plans emphasize honors, AP, online Career and College Promise, and appropriate course selection.

How students are identified: Annual screening reviews the general student population, while referral adds candidates throughout K–12. School teams examine aptitude, achievement, classroom performance, observations, recommendations, and other learner evidence before placement.
