Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Mitchell County provides ongoing talent development and a continuum of differentiated, enriched, and accelerated learning for advanced students.
How services work: Annual DEPs may include curriculum compacting, acceleration, higher-order thinking, enrichment blocks, advanced middle-school placement, honors, AP, dual enrollment, online study, and transition planning.
How students are identified: All third-graders receive NNAT3 screening, with targeted fifth-grade rescreening and later referrals. Teams use ability, achievement, grades, parent and teacher ratings, CogAT, Iowa testing, and other learner evidence on a multi-criteria rubric.
