Advanced Learning and Talent Development / AIG

McDowell County uses recurring districtwide data review and student-centered planning to identify, develop, and serve advanced learners throughout school and early-college pathways.

How services work: Annual DEPs match learning-environment changes, content modifications, enrichment, acceleration, advanced coursework, school-choice options, and postsecondary planning to readiness, interests, performance, and durable-skill needs.

How students are identified: Advanced Learning and Talent Development Specialists conduct data sweeps after testing events using K–12 literacy, adaptive, achievement, aptitude, and college-readiness measures. Students may also be referred by themselves, families, teachers, or administrators.
