Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Jackson County uses universal screening, open referral, and collaborative needs determination to match gifted learners with appropriate academic and social-emotional support.
How services work: Annual DEPs may include curriculum compacting, advanced classroom placement, differentiated learning, enrichment, acceleration, advanced secondary coursework, and counseling support.
How students are identified: All third-graders receive universal screening. Staff, families, or students may request review in any grade, and the Needs Determination Team considers aptitude, achievement, performance, grades, nominations, observations, interests, strengths, and portfolios.
