Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Henderson County extends and enhances the state curriculum for highly capable learners through a K–12 program staffed by AIG specialists at every school level.
How services work: AIG specialists screen, advocate, consult, and teach in elementary, middle, and high schools, with service choices matched to a student's reading, mathematics, intellectual, and broader learning needs.
How students are identified: School AIG committees conduct universal screening in grades 3 and 6 and accept referrals from students, families, and educators. Teams use aptitude, achievement, recommendations, observations, portfolios, and other evidence; no single criterion automatically excludes a student.
