Gifted & Talented Education / AIG

Harnett County uses a K–12 continuum, early talent nurturing, and varied enrichment to identify and serve students needing advanced learning.

How services work: A K–3 nurturing program broadens early access, while school AIG lead teachers coordinate differentiated placement, extracurricular and summer enrichment, acceleration, and advanced secondary opportunities.

How students are identified: A four-step process covers referral, screening, assessment of need, and placement. Referrals are accepted year-round, universal screening occurs in grades 3 and 5, and school Gifted Identification Teams review test data, classroom performance, work, and observations.
