Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Gates County builds access to gifted learning through early talent development, recurring universal screening, and individualized K–12 services.
How services work: Each identified student receives an annual DEP describing differentiated curriculum, enrichment, acceleration, classroom strategies, advanced coursework, and transition support appropriate to the learner.
How students are identified: Universal aptitude screening occurs in grades 3 and 6, while achievement is reviewed annually across grades 3–11. Referrals remain open year-round and may include tests, observations, checklists, work samples, recommendations, and portfolios.
