Academically & Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Gaston County provides rigorous, technology-rich instruction and advanced opportunities intended to recognize, challenge, and nurture gifted and potentially gifted students from diverse backgrounds.
How services work: AIG services are integrated with the broader educational program through collaboration with general education, differentiated instruction matched to need, school specialists, and advanced secondary opportunities.
How students are identified: Screening reviews historical assessment and academic-performance data before further evaluation; the district's local AIG plan and school teams govern formal identification and the resulting Differentiated Education Plan.
