Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Dare County uses inclusive screening, talent development, and individualized planning to support gifted learners' academic and social-emotional growth.
How services work: AIG facilitators and classroom teachers coordinate differentiated instruction, grouping, enrichment, acceleration, advanced coursework, and transition support through annually reviewed DEPs.
How students are identified: K–2 talent pools and nurturing groups lead into multiple K–12 identification pathways. School teams review achievement, aptitude, classroom evidence, referrals, and committee-evaluated portfolios, including alternatives intended to broaden access.
