AIG / Advanced Studies

Craven County provides a continuum addressing gifted learners' academic, intellectual, social, and emotional needs while also nurturing students who show advanced potential.

How services work: Services include regular-classroom differentiation, shared resources, counseling, specialist-led small groups, talent-development pull-outs or inclusion groups, advanced courses, honors, AP, dual enrollment, and innovative high schools.

How students are identified: A referral-review team meets monthly and uses a body of qualitative and quantitative evidence under a grade-banded matrix. Identified students receive a DEP or IDEP with family consent; K–2 identification is possible for demonstrated extreme need.
