Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Chatham County matches school-based specialist and teacher support to students who are highly advanced or intellectually gifted, with additional talent-development and acceleration options.
How services work: Services are delivered through classroom teachers and AIG specialists, talent development, differentiated learning, single-subject or whole-grade acceleration, and advanced high-school coursework including honors, AP, dual enrollment, and Career and College Promise.
How students are identified: Screening and referrals are available K–12. Referrals may be made by families, educators, counselors, administrators, peers, students, or others; teams combine quantitative and qualitative evidence, and qualifying screening scores trigger further review.
