Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Alleghany County integrates gifted education with the regular program while providing differentiated and extended learning responsive to academic, intellectual, and social-emotional needs.
How services work: DEPs match students with classroom differentiation, flexible grouping, advanced or accelerated content, enrichment, concept-based study, co-teaching support, and district-level extended learning.
How students are identified: K–3 screening draws on universal local assessments, work, interests, observations, and recommendations. Beginning in grade 4, CogAT and multiple achievement, performance, and nomination measures guide MTSS team decisions.
