Gifted Education
Harford provides a needs-based continuum in mathematics, reading, problem-based learning, affective learning, acceleration, and advanced secondary study.
How services work: Elementary schools use GT-teacher consultation, co-teaching, pull-outs, daily differentiation, and acceleration; middle and high schools add accelerated courses, honors, AP, IB, dual enrollment, magnet, and signature programs.
How students are identified: Universal CogAT screening begins in grade 2 and repeats in grade 6. School GT committees review multiple assessments, portfolios, behavior evidence, referrals, and local norms, with annual service review and family appeal rights.
