Gifted and Talented Education Services
Charles County provides gifted and enrichment classes supported by school learning resource teachers, followed by honors, AP, and other advanced secondary opportunities.
How services work: Learning resource teachers in elementary and middle schools coordinate gifted screening and work directly with students in gifted, enrichment, and honors courses; advanced high-school coursework extends the continuum.
How students are identified: Students in grades 2–5 may enter screening through CogAT candidate data or family and teacher nomination. A school committee reviews academic, performance, and family-observation evidence, monitors progress, and notifies families of placement decisions.
