Acceleration and Enrichment Programs (AEP)
Allegany offers a countywide menu of acceleration and enrichment for gifted, highly able, talented, and potentially talented learners.
How services work: PreK–2 talent observation leads to weekly pull-out or co-taught enrichment in grades 3–5, flexible accelerated content periods in grades 6–8, and honors, AP, dual enrollment, mentoring, internships, and online courses in high school.
How students are identified: Grades 1–2 use a Gifted Learning Behavioral Checklist. In grades 3–5, an evaluation committee reviews nominations, family and teacher observations, student performance, test scores, attendance, and the checklist; the district publishes a family appeal route.
