Summit uses cognitive, achievement, and behavior evidence for gifted identification and gives families a choice about proceeding after qualification. Identified students work regularly with a gifted coach through an Advanced Learning Plan.

Published processThe district describes a body of evidence that typically includes cognitive or intelligence tests, STAR or CMAS achievement results, and behavior observation scales. Standardized scores at or above the 95th percentile are described as qualifying evidence. Families then decide whether to proceed with identification and services.
Published modelThe gifted coach and student set at least one academic and one social-emotional ALP goal with family collaboration. Services can include differentiated content, cluster grouping of up to eight gifted students, regular coach meetings, and programming in the home classroom, another school, or a special class.
