How students are considered
Published processThe three-step process begins with referral, continues through a body of evidence, and ends with formal identification, talent pool, more data, or another documented result. Evidence may include cognitive ability, achievement, observation scales, demonstrated performance, portfolios, awards, and interviews. One assessment cannot by itself stop further consideration.
What service can look like
Published modelFormal identification leads to an Advanced Learning Plan. Students placed in the talent pool receive differentiated instruction while the school gathers additional evidence. Specific services vary by school and should be documented with the building gifted coordinator.

02Provide portfolio work, achievement history, observations, awards, interviews, or other evidence that shows advanced potential or performance.
03Ask which cognitive, achievement, observation, and performance measures will form the body of evidence.
04Track the 30-school-day decision period and request the written formal-identification, talent-pool, or further-data result.
05If needed, submit a written appeal through the building coordinator; the district describes a written response within 15 school days.
