How students are considered

Published processFamilies should contact the school gifted coordinator for a referral packet. The district considers ability and achievement results, school evidence, and observations rather than one score. Grade 2 universal screening helps identify students, and referral review is conducted annually in fall.

Published modelK-2 emphasizes identification and differentiation; Grades 3-6 may use acceleration, clusters, and extensions; Grades 7-8 add individual differentiation; Grades 9-12 offer advanced classes, Colorado Mountain College courses, AP, and independent study. Social-emotional support accompanies academic planning.

01Contact the school's gifted coordinator and request the current referral packet and October cutoff.
02Ask whether the student is included in universal screening and which additional evidence will be collected.
03Provide work samples, advanced-performance examples, interests, observations, and relevant prior test results.
04Request the written identification decision and an explanation of the evidence reviewed.
05If identified, participate in the ALP meeting and confirm the specific acceleration, clustering, extension, course, and social-emotional supports.
