How students are considered

Published processA referral can begin with a parent, student, educator, staff member, peer, or community member. Screening may include cognitive ability and achievement tests, creativity measures, parent or teacher checklists, portfolios, work samples, and ratings. A multi-score body of evidence determines placement, and services and goals are reviewed annually.

What service can look like

Published modelIdentified students receive an Advanced Learning Plan with a strength-based achievement goal and an affective-growth goal. School services may include differentiated instruction, acceleration, enriched projects, critical thinking, and advanced academics; talent-pool students who are close to identification may also receive services.

02Describe the student's advanced performance, interests, creativity, leadership, or academic strengths with specific examples.
03Provide relevant portfolios, work samples, prior results, and parent observations for the multi-score body of evidence.
04Request the written identification or talent-pool decision and an explanation of the evidence considered.
05If identified, help shape both the achievement and affective goals in the Advanced Learning Plan and ask how progress will be reported.
