Twain Harte universally offers Grade 3 testing unless a family opts out and accepts referrals for Grades 4-8 from parents, educators, counselors, and administrators. Identification uses several kinds of evidence rather than one score alone.

Published coverageAnnual identification in Grades 3-8
Published processAnnual screening and identification cover Grades 3-8. All Grade 3 students may test unless a parent opts out; Grades 4-8 students may be referred. With parent consent, the district reviews OLSAT8 results, achievement records, up to five work samples, teacher recommendations, and other licensed assessments. A student may be reconsidered once during Grades 3-5 and once during Grades 6-8.
Published modelThe district may use part-time groups and seminars, cluster grouping, independent study, acceleration, supplemental activities, field trips, and social-emotional support. Families should ask the school which options and frequency apply to the student's current grade.
