How students are considered
Published processParents, guardians, teachers, or students may nominate an enrolled K-8 student through the classroom teacher or administrator at any time. The district uses NNAT for nonverbal ability and CogAT for verbal and quantitative ability, plus achievement, work, and contextual evidence. Students at or above the 90th percentile enter a three-factor matrix and qualify locally with at least 15 points; the 97th percentile in any approved area automatically meets the Arizona rule.
What service can look like
Published modelEach identified student receives a Gifted Differentiated Education Plan with individual goals, instructional strategies, supports, and measures of success. Common services include compacting, differentiation, enrichment, acceleration, elementary cluster classrooms, middle-school advanced classes, and extended-day opportunities when funded.
