Published processA parent or legal guardian requests a Gifted Referral Packet from the elementary or middle school front office and returns it to the classroom teacher. Sacaton uses CogAT 8 in verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning during October, January, and March. Arizona requires identification at or above the 97th percentile in one approved reasoning area; the district also considers a local high-achieving route using assessment, teacher observation, and above-grade-level classroom performance.
Published modelSacaton's documented Grades 3-8 model equips classroom teachers to provide differentiated learning, more complex and abstract processes, STEAM content, and project-based instruction that supports academic and emotional needs. The district also describes local services for high-achieving students identified through classroom and district evidence, while transfer placement begins after records are verified.
