How students are considered
Published processParents can use the district Gifted Testing Request Form, and parents, teachers, students, psychologists, counselors, or principals may refer to the gifted coordinator. Staff may refer K-12 students at any time and are prompted three times yearly. A state-approved test measures verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning; 97th percentile in any area qualifies, while some students at or above the 94th percentile receive further contextual review.

01Complete the district Gifted Testing Request Form or send a referral through the student's teacher, counselor, psychologist, principal, or gifted coordinator.
02Ask when the next assessment will occur, which state-approved test will be used, and how the district will communicate results.
03Request verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal percentile results and confirm whether the 97th-percentile rule is met.
04If the highest result is 94th-96th percentile and cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, or disability factors may have affected testing, request the district's further-evaluation process.
05After identification, ask the school to document the child's actual flexible grouping, differentiated curriculum, enrichment, special classes, and social-emotional support.
