Warren's Challenge program uses ongoing nominations and multi-criteria blind review rather than a single score. Parents and students can nominate, and service changes by grade from early enrichment to pullout, honors, and Advanced Placement courses.

How students are considered
Published processTeachers nominate at the end of Grade 3 and throughout the year; parents may nominate students who were not teacher-nominated, and students may self-nominate. Nominations after Grade 3 are considered at all levels. Evidence includes standardized achievement, a nonverbal ability assessment, school ability scores, creativity, task commitment, and parent, teacher, and student checklists. A five-member certified committee reviews data without student names and uses no single cutoff score.
What service can look like
Published modelK-3 students receive small-group enrichment from the GT coordinator plus Talents Unlimited lessons from classroom teachers. Grades 4-5 use resource pullout enrichment, Grades 6-8 use honors classes, and Grades 9-12 use honors and AP courses. The progression means families should verify the actual class or weekly schedule during each school transition.

01Ask whether the student is already included in the Grade 3 nomination review; otherwise submit the parent nomination form or support a student self-nomination.
02Build evidence across the district's categories: ability and achievement results, creativity, motivation or task commitment, and parent, teacher, and student observations.
03Do not treat one test result as decisive; the five-member committee uses blind, multiple-criteria review with no single inclusion or exclusion cutoff.
04After the written decision, request the evidence summary and submit a written appeal with omitted or new information if the placement appears incomplete.
