Greenbrier is currently accepting Grades 3-5 referrals. Families may request testing through the classroom teacher or GT specialist, provide written evaluation consent and a parent inventory, and then follow a service continuum from weekly elementary enrichment to secondary honors and acceleration.

How students are considered

Published processFor Grades 3-5, a parent asks the classroom teacher or GT specialist to initiate testing. District students may also be referred through an elementary specialist or secondary counselor. Formal evaluation and placement require written parent consent. The parent packet collects background, ability, interests, creativity, problem-solving, motivation, and task-persistence observations to supplement school evidence.

What service can look like

Published modelK-2 students receive a 50-minute enrichment lesson each week. Identified Grades 3-5 students receive 150 minutes of weekly pullout. Grades 6-12 receive at least 250 minutes each week through honors or accelerated English, math, science, and social studies, with additional advanced classes, AP courses, competitions, clubs, and enrichment opportunities.

01Email the classroom teacher or GT specialist and state clearly that you want your child referred for gifted-program evaluation.
02Ask for the current referral packet, closing date, testing dates, evidence list, and placement-committee date.
03Return written evaluation consent and complete the parent questionnaire with concrete examples of advanced reasoning, creativity, curiosity, persistence, and interests.
04Request the written placement decision and the evidence categories considered; ask how to inspect the record or challenge incorrect information.
05Verify the promised service schedule: 50 weekly minutes in K-2, 150 weekly pullout minutes in Grades 3-5, or 250 weekly honors and acceleration minutes in Grades 6-12.
