Cabot uses ongoing K-12 nomination and blind, multi-criteria placement with no single cutoff. Its 2026-27 Grades 2-6 nomination window has closed, but the process, required consent, annual review, elementary service minutes, and secondary pathway are clearly published.

How students are considered
Published processParents, staff, community members, peers, or students may nominate. Formal review begins after Grade 1 and uses achievement and norm-referenced results, Otis-Lennon ability, Williams creativity, rating scales, grades, and observations. Parents consent before testing and placement. A multidisciplinary committee conducts blind review with no single cutoff, sends written decisions, and reviews continued service annually.
What service can look like
Published modelEach K-4 school has a certified specialist, and identified students receive at least 150 minutes weekly through an Independent Study Plan, advisory, acceleration and enrichment, flexible groups, and consultation with classroom teachers. K-1 also receives whole-group enrichment. Pre-AP and AP begin in Grade 7; identified Grades 10-12 students may use Pre-AP, AP, and a year-long GT Seminar focused on advanced coursework and high-stakes exams.
