Tuscaloosa County School System publishes a complete K–12 gifted continuum. Services progress from classroom accommodation in K-2 to at least three hours of weekly pullout in Grades 3-5, a Grade 6 GATE course, Academic Scholars in Grades 7-8, and student-selected advanced options in high school.

The district reviews aptitude, a gifted-characteristics rating, and at least three performance indicators such as achievement scores, grades, products, work samples, or portfolios on the Alabama eligibility matrix.
Published modelGrades K-2 receive regular-classroom accommodations with gifted-teacher consultation. Grades 3-5 receive school-based pullout from gifted-certified teachers for at least three hours weekly. Grade 6 students may take Creative Expressions 6-GATE, Grades 7-8 use Academic Scholars with consultation, and high school may include dual enrollment, early college, advanced, honors, AP, independent study, or cooperative education.
