01

Who and which grades

Published coverageSecond-grade universal screening; three-hour weekly pullout beginning in Grade 3; referral windows published for Grades 3-5 and acceleration

02

How students are considered

Published processAll second graders are screened automatically. Other referrals may come from families, teachers, students, or peers. The district reviews aptitude, achievement, performance, and behavior evidence, including rating scales, six products or activities, test scores, work samples, and other achievement evidence before making a written determination.

03

What service can look like

Published modelIdentified students participate in a pullout gifted class at their current school for three hours each week beginning in Grade 3. The district develops an Advanced Education Plan from the student's evidence, teacher observations, performance, strengths, needs, gifted-teacher input, and family requests, then reviews the plan during spring parent-teacher conferences.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01For a second grader, confirm that automatic screening is underway; a separate parent referral is not required for that Child Find route.
02For Grades 3-5, contact the building GATE teacher early in the school year and confirm the exact September closing date.
03Keep authentic work and products because the body of evidence may include six activities or products, achievement information, and work samples.
04Expect written notice after the district reviews aptitude, achievement, performance, and behavior evidence.
05If identified, participate in the Advanced Education Plan meeting and confirm the three-hour weekly pullout schedule.
