Scottsboro City Schools identifies gifted students through second-grade observation and standard referrals, then uses aptitude, characteristics, and performance evidence. How students are considered
Published processFamilies, teachers, counselors, administrators, students, peers, or another knowledgeable person may refer a student, and all second graders are observed. The district gathers aptitude, gifted characteristics, and performance evidence and scores the information on an eligibility matrix.
What service can look like
Published modelAfter eligibility and completion of a Gifted Education Plan, students in Grades 3-6 receive services through a pull-out program. Students in Grades 7-12 are served through advanced-class placement. Families should confirm the current schedule and course choices with the gifted teacher because the district does not publish weekly frequency on its public page.
