How students are considered
Published processTeachers, counselors, administrators, families, peers, students, and other knowledgeable people may refer, and all second graders are observed through Child Find. The district gathers aptitude, a gifted-characteristics rating, and at least three performance indicators for the ALSDE eligibility matrix.
What service can look like
Published modelQualified students in Grades 3-5 receive three to five hours of direct gifted services each week. Gifted staff also provide consultative support to K-12 teachers so classroom instruction can be differentiated for identified students and other learners who exhibit gifted characteristics.

04Expect aptitude, characteristics, and at least three performance indicators to be considered through the state matrix.
05After eligibility, confirm the Grades 3-5 weekly schedule or the K-12 consultative support appropriate to the child's grade.
