How students are considered
Published processTeachers, counselors, administrators, families, peers, students, and other knowledgeable people may refer. Every second grader is observed using a gifted-behavior checklist. Aptitude, characteristics, and performance evidence are entered on Alabama's eligibility matrix; families start with the school counselor.
What service can look like
Published modelStudents in Grades 3-6 receive direct services at The Gifted Center located at the Career Technical Center. The district provides indirect services in students' individual schools for Grades K-2 and 7-12 and publishes both the Learning Center and Gifted Center phone contacts.
